Kumasi, Jan. 20, GNA – Mr Francis Ampadu, Assembly member for Old Tafo Ahenbronum in Kumasi has called on churches in the area to help maintain proper sanitary practices in the communities.
He said keeping the environment clean had become a real problem due to population increases and as organisations with large following they could make an impact if they get involved.
Mr Ampadu was addressing a meeting with religious leaders and other identifiable groups at Old Tafo on Sunday on how they could contribute to enhance the development of the town.
He suggested that they set aside a day to raise funds for the electoral area to purchase tools for clean-up activities in the communities.
“People who know God and have love for their community will do well to contribute their quota to enhance its development without looking at others”, the assembly member said.
Mr Ampadu indicated that the area is confronted with many problems but stressed that with one accord and commitment, the problems could be resolved, adding that they set aside some days to pray for the development of the area.
He asked them to advise their members to comport themselves before, during and after this year’s general elections and also go in to cast their votes.
Nana Afua Konadu, Old-Tafo-Suame Constituency Vice-Chairperson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Old-Tafo Town Council Chairperson, urged support for the assembly member in his efforts to develop the area.
Nana Konadu urged them to bury their political differences and rally solidly behind the NPP government to accelerate the development of the country. 20 Jan. 04
