Thabo Mbeki visits Akufo-Addo in his residence

Former President of South Africa and leader of the Commonwealth Observer Mission, Thabo Mbeki has paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) beat the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) and five other candidates in the December 7, 2016 general elections by winning 53.85 percent of total votes cast.

International and corporate bodies, political opponents, religious bodies and individuals have sent their congratulatory messages to Nana Akufo-Addo.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will become the fifth president under the fourth republic when he is sworn into office on January 7, 2016.
