GBC’s Political Season Over?

The management of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has begun very crucial meetings with representatives of political parties contesting the December elections to review guidelines for airtime allotment.

GBC, which has drawn some flack for alleged bias against the opposition parties in its coverage of news items and allocation of airtime to government.

It has also been criticised for rejecting paid for advertisements from some political parties because it is in a period of ‘political off-season.’

GBC has maintained the policy of ‘political off season’, which it says will remain in place until the Electoral Commission officially declares an all-out campaign period.

The ongoing meetings would revise the guidelines for the regulation of time allocations and tentative programmes to be made available to the various parties.
