NPP’s Adenta Kumi arrested!

Alfred Ababio Kumi, popularly known as Adenta Kumi, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been arrested in a dawn raid on his residence.

The former NPP parliamentary aspirant for Adentan constituency was picked up by operatives believed to be from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) on Friday, May 23, 2025.

Some of the operatives were reportedly masked and wielded AK-47 rifles, while others were in plain clothes.

The arrest follows his petition to President John Mahama, calling for the committee probing the possible removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo to be dissolved.

Kumi alleged that on May 15, 2025, after the committee’s inaugural sitting, Justices Pwamang and Adibu-Asiedu, along with Supreme Court Justice Yonni Kulendi, were seen dining at Santoku Restaurant with Thaddeus Sory, counsel for petitioner Daniel Ofori.

Kumi claimed they were overheard discussing issues related to the petition, a situation he believes undermines the integrity of the ongoing probe.
