Mad rush for NPP paraphernalia in Kumasi

There has been a sudden mad rush for paraphernalia of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) within the Kumasi Metropolis two days after the December 7 polls.

Even though the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana is yet to officially announce the results, provisional figures put the NPP’s Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo in the lead ahead of President John Dramani Mahama.

This has triggered jubilation in various suburbs of the city which is regarded the stronghold of the opposition party, with supporters hoisting flags and seen wearing party apparel.

A visit to the central business district on Thursday revealed that business persons were cashing on the opportunity to make huge sales as most people were itching to be seen in the colours of the elephant family.

At Adum, scores of traders are cashing on the increased activity in the area with some setting up stalls to exhibit their wares to the numerous supporters of the opposition party.
