MP inaugurates water project at Ahwiaa

Ahwiaa (Ash), Jan 19, GNA – Nana Asante-Frempong, the Member of Parliament for Kwabre, has inaugurated a 50-million cedi mechanised hand-dug well at Ahwiaa in the Kwabre District.

The facility has a machine to pump water from the well to an overhead poly tank that has a capacity for 1,300 gallons. The MP said the facility was his initiative and it was funded through a special grant from the Ministry of Finance.

The project, the first of its kind in the district, will be replicated in the other parts of the town and other communities in the district if it proved successful.

Nana Asante-Frimpong said to ensure the cost of the facility is recovered to enable similar projects to be replicated in the constituency he and the assembly member for the area will engage two women to manage it.

Alhaji Ahmed Akwasi Yeboah, the Kwabre District Chief Executive, said efforts are being made by the district assembly to get the Ghana Water Company to provide pipe borne water for the people of Atimatim and Ahwiaa.

The DCE advised people who will be in-charge of the sale of the water to be transparent and be ready to serve the people at all times.
