Court grants student bail for causing harm

An Accra Circuit Court has granted GH? 70,000.00 bail to Stephen Borketey, a student for allegedly possessing firearm, discharging of firearm without lawful authority and causing harm.

Per the bail conditions, Stephen would produce two sureties, one to be justified and reappear on December 21.

Chief Superintendent of Police Duuti Tuaruka told the court that the complainant in the case was unemployed and a native of Delta State in Nigeria.

He said on November 25 at about 1030 hours, the complainant poured waste on the compound of the accused father’s, where he was a tenant.

He said this angered the accused and he confronted the complainant and generated into exchange of words between the two.

The prosecution said the accused entered into his mother’s room and brought out a single barrel gun belonging to his late father and shot at the left leg of the complainant.

Chief Supt Duuti said the complainant was rushed to the Christian Medical Centre and was transferred to the 37 Military Hospital.

The accused person later reported to the Police Station and after investigation, he was charged.
