We are ready to conduct free and fair elections – EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced its readiness to conduct free and fair elections across the 275 constituencies in the country.

According to the EC, all the necessary electoral materials such as ballot papers and booths have already been sent to the 28,992 polling centres nationwide to ensure a smooth exercise.

The Deputy Director of Communications of the Electoral Commission, Yusif Ayuba in an interview on Starr FM, Tuesday stated that the EC has put in place a plan B to ensure the voting exercise goes on unhindered.

“Every centre will have a backup of a BVD, all have been sent to the various district offices and like I said earlier on the packaging is ongoing to get ready for tomorrow.”

Ghana goes to the polls on Wednesday to elect a President and 275 Parliamentarians to help govern the country for the next four years.

Political Watchers say, the election will be keenly contested among the two leading parties, the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
