NPP calls off Ashanti Regional rally

A planned regional rally in the Ashanti Region by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been called off.

This follows the ban on drumming and noise making in the region by the King of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The directive was as a result of the death of the Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who happens to be the mother of the Asantehene.

The rally was scheduled for Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

EIB Network’s reporter, Wilberforce Asare who has been following the NPP national campaign team reports that the presidential candidate of the elephant family, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will instead address a press conference on Wednesday.

The flag bearer will later join his campaign team in the Brong Ahafo Region where they are expected to hold two additional rallies in Banda and Tain in the coming days.
