Ayariga intellectually bankrupt – APC General Secretary

Hassan Ayariga, flag bearer of the All People’s Congress (APC), must prove to Ghanaians he is not intellectually bankrupt by moving away from the way he does his things as founder of the party, Razak Poku, dismissed General Secretary of the APC, has said.

According to him, Mr Ayariga’s claim that he, Razak Poku, has been dismissed from the party for endorsing the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections only subjects the party to public ridicule.

Mr Ayariga said over the weekend that he had dismissed his running mate Emmanuel Carl Bartels and Mr Opoku for holding a meeting with the leadership of the NPP on Friday, which resulted in the two APC men endorsing Nana Akufo-Addo.

But in a response to the claims, Mr Opoku said: “Before a decision can be taken, it is the general secretary, in accordance with the constitution that writes to the affected member that you have been dismissed, suspended, or fired from the party…not Dr Hassan Ayariga or Dr Hassan Ayariga’s wife.”

“You need to raise the bar. He doesn’t have to show to Ghanaians that he is intellectually bankrupt because political parties are not sole proprietorships where somebody will wake up one morning and take a decision for all members. You say the decision that majority of the party members have taken are against the party’s financier John Mahama, and, so, once you have done something against my party’s financier, John Mahama, I have suspended you.

“Majority of the party’s supporters have accepted that Nana Akufo-Addo is more credible, more competent, and incorruptible, who can help the country develop more than we are seeing now. He is someone who can provide jobs for the teeming youth of this country.”
