Chief calls on his people to stop polluting river

Nkoranza, Jan 12, GNA- Nana Yaw Agyeman, chief of Pruso in the Nkoranza District, has warned his people against polluting the River Pru in the area because offenders would be prosecuted. The people are noted for polluting the river, the area’s only source of drinking water, with chemical substances to catch fish especially during the dry season.

Nana Agyeman told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that in spite of warnings people continue to pollute the river.

”Anybody caught will be prosecuted in court to serve as a deterrent to others”, the chief said.

He called on the unit committee to set up a task force to check the practice and urged fire volunteers to assist in arresting the youth who organize themselves for group game hunting to prevent bushfires.
