NDC’s attacks on our supporters alarming – Nitiwul

The Head of Security for the New Patriotic Party(NPP) campaign, Dominic Nitiwul has cautioned the supporters of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) to desist from attacking it followers.

According to him, the NPP is determined to win the upcoming elections on a clean sheet devoid of any violence and hence will restrain reprisal attacks against the NDC gangs.

“On behalf of the campaign, I’m urging the NDC to stop the gang and mob attacks on the NPP supporters because Nana Addo has pledged that he wants to win this election on a peaceful, clean, violence free mode. The rate of attack of pro-NDC groups on NPP supporters is alarming,” he bemoaned in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM.

Mr. Nitiwul also a Member of Parliament for Bimbilla constituency in the Northern region made the plea following the Wulensi clashes between supporters of the governing NDC and NPP.

Seven persons all supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party were reportedly injured when some armed men suspected to be members of the ruling NDC attacked them during a rally at Tinangeria in the Wulensi constituency of the Northern region.

This is the third of such incidents between the two groups in the last two weeks within the same enclave.

Meanwhile the Police say they are on a hunt for perpetrators of the violence while investigations are also underway.
