Akufo-Addo salutes Togbe Afede

Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has sent a congratulatory message to the President-elect of the National House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede XIV.

In a statement signed and released in Accra on Friday, November 25, 2016, the opposition leader said I am confident that Togbe Afede XIV will bring his wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of his duties to the House, and in the shaping of the national discourse, as we seek to build a progressive and prosperous nation. “

Togbe Afede XIV, who is the Paramount Chief of the Asogli State was elected President during the House of Chiefs’ meeting at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on Thursday, November 24, 2015.

The business mogul won the presidency with 25 votes, beating his main contenders, Awulae Attibrukusu of Lower Axim in the Western and Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, the Okyenhene, who polled 11 and 10 votes respectively.

Nana Kwabena Nketia V, Chief of Essikado Traditional Area who also competed for the position garnered only three votes.
