GEIG & Lancaster presents ‘2016 International Day of Persons with Disabilities’

The Girls Education Initiative of Ghana, GEIG in partnership with Lancaster University Ghana and the Department of the Girl Child, Kasoa present the ”2016 International Day of Persons with Disabilities”.

It was initiated by the United Nations in 1992 to celebrate abilities and successes of all persons. “The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.

It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.” The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated annually on December. Each year, the celebration focuses on a different theme.
