SATIRE: Dubai residents demand apology for Circle interchange comparison

Residents of Dubai are reportedly demanding an immediate apology from the government of Ghana, after officials claimed Accra has been “transformed into Dubai”, following the inauguration of a Brazilian government funded interchange in the heart of the capital city.

An official statement said the residents of Dubai have taken offense to the unfavourably comparison, describing claims of the transformation of Accra into Dubai as “completely false and highly deceptive.” The statement explained that the newly built “Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange looked nothing like any landmark in Dubai.”

Dubai, nicknamed “City of Gold” for its stunning transformation from a sleepy Gulf port to a world-famous business crossroads in the space of a single generation, is also home to the world’s tallest building as well as the largest man-made island.

The statement from the residents of the Arabian metropolis ended with a word of advice for Ghanaian authorities: “if you want to transform Accra into Dubai, then you’ll need more than donor-funded interchanges and disco lights.”
