Atwima Kwanwoma will vote massively for Nana Addo – NPP

The electorate of Atwima Kwanwoma constituency in the Ashanti Region will deliver more votes for the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in this year’s presidential elections than before, Prince Karikari, constituency Secretary of the Atwima Kwanwoma constituency of the NPP has said.

According to him, attempts by some elements to foment trouble in the constituency purposely to intimidate voters will not work because the people are poised to vote massively for the NPP and its leader in the elections.

Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM on Monday, 21 November in connection with some confusion that ensued between the independent parliamentary candidate and the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Mr Karikari said: “We are very focused on the elections, we are united and the people in the constituency will deliver the elections for the NPP and Nana Addo.”

“Efforts to make the NPP unpopular in the constituency by linking the recent act of violence in the area to the parliamentary candidate will not work, claims that the party has been evicted from its office are not true,” he said.

Meanwhile, the independent parliamentary candidate for the area, Ernest Opoku, who is also accusing the NPP of fomenting trouble in the constituency, has said in a statement that: “We will like to stress again that no amount or level of intimidation can stop us. We are equally men and well-prepared to meet any violence squarely if not for our respect for the DISEC and our love and desire to see and maintain absolute peace at Atwima Kwanwoma.”

“We will, however, remind the District Security Committee (DISEC) that there is an elastic limit to everything and should they fail to act, we have every right within the constitution to protect and defend ourselves.”
