Stay away from Ghana elections – Akufo-Addo appeals to Togolese

Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appealed to the people of Togo to stay away from Ghana’s upcoming general elections.

The opposition leader addressing thousands of supporters and sympathizers of the elephant family in French at the first of a series of regional rallies at Aflao in the Volta Region, Sunday, said the people of Togo can help Ghana’s democratic process by ensuring that they abstain from the December 7 polls.

He was very optimistic that Togo being a very good neighbor of the former British Colony will take note of his plea and ensure that Ghanaians alone choose their president who will man the country for the next four years.

Speaking further, he urged the people of Volta Region to also say no to tribal politics and vote for the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition in the upcoming general elections.

Nana Addo described as sad the recent comments of the President John Dramani Mahama asking Northerners to vote for him because he is of Northern extraction.

He says the President has turned to tribal politics because “he can feel defeat stirring at his face.”
