Salaga market traders reject Nii Lante Vanderpuye over failed promises

The Parliamentary Candidate for the Odododiodio Constituency, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, is reported have been chased out of the Salaga Market in Accra by the traders for failing to fulfill the promises made to them four years ago.

Reports indicate that Nii Lante Vanderpuye was at the Salaga market with a foreign national (Whiteman) to try and convince the traders that they are now ready and prepared to rebuild the market but their presence was said to have brought chaos to the place.

He was subsequently rushed out of the market to avoid further confrontations. In an interview with this paper, the market women and traders lamented about the way politicians have been taking them for granted.

According to them, Nii Lante Vanderpuye promised to rebuild the market in 2012 to bring relief to them.

They indicated that after the elections, the MP ignored them and were surprised to see him return to make same promise again. That is why we sacked him from this place, they lamented.

“He has realized that we are close to the elections and he needs our votes once again so he is here with a Whiteman (foreigner) to deceive us to believe that he is ready to rebuild the Salaga market, we see this move by Nii Lantey Vanderpuye as a scam just to deceive us and get our votes. We are now discerning,” they lamented.

“It’s been over seven years now since they moved us from the market unto the streets to rebuild the market, but the project was not even started. Every election year they use the market to campaign and forget about us after the elections.”

“Nonetheless, it’s left with 21 days to voting and Vanderpuye is here repeating the same tricks he used in 2012″, however, this time we rejected him. We sacked him from the market because we will not vote for him again. We will try the NPP; they could be a better alternative,” they said.
