Tarkwa (W/R) Jan. 2 (Credit Asmah)- GNA – A deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Slim Manford in-charge of the Motor Traffic Transport Unit (MTTU) at Tarkwa has said road accidents could be reduced if drivers were periodically educated on traffic regulations.
The MTTU official who was addressing an end of year meeting of the Taxi’s branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) at Tarkwa also noted that over speeding, overloading, and poor maintenance of vehicles were contributed to road accidents nationwide. DSP Manford advised the GPRTU executives to ensure regular programmes to educate members on how to reduce the spate of accidents in the area.
He urged drivers to carry their driving licenses and other documents on them when working adding that the Police would not tolerate careless and in disciplined by drivers.
Mr Samuel K. Sackey, Chairman of the Branch Union asked the drivers to be united and respect themselves and the Police. He urged them to avoid drunk driving, lawlessness and disrespect.
