GAWIF assists three final year students

Kumasi, Dec 31, GNA- The Ghanaian Women Initiative Foundation (GAWIF), an NGO which seeks the welfare and rights of women, last Wednesday gave three out of six final year students of Technology Secondary School (Techsec) 1.6 million cedis to enable them to register for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and also pay for their practical examination.

Madam Grace Pokua, a member of GAWIF and the Ashanti Regional Girl Child Co-ordinator, told the GNA that the Foundation heard about the plight of the students.

She said this prompted the Foundation to assist three out of the six needy students who are all girls.

Madam Pokua said GAWIF would have wished to assist all the six students but lack of funds constrained the foundation.

She appealed to women’s groups, churches, NGOs and philanthropists to assist GAWIF to spearhead the proper upbringing of girls and also support the needy amongst them.
