She was addressing a durbar to mark the annual Akwambo festival of the Chiefs and people of Gomoa Mampong, at the weekend. Miss Aidoo commended Mr Fred Oscar Abban, Assemblyman for the area for his dynamism and appealed to other members of the District Assembly to work hard to ensure positive change in the living conditions of the people.

The DCE stressed the need for peaceful elections in the area and throughout the country next year.

Mr Abban urged the people to embrace the spirit of voluntarism and to impart it to the younger generation, adding that, they should execute a school project they had initiated on schedule.

Mr Isaac Kobena Aidoo, a mechanical superintendent at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, called for the institution of an educational endowment fund to support brilliant but needy children and pledged one million cedis as seed money for the initiative. Awards were presented to winners of a cross-country race as part of the activities for the festival.
