Zoomlion supports Rotary Club to undertake sanitation projects

Waste management experts, Zoomlion Ghana limited has joined forces with the Rotary club of Accra trinity to undertake a clean-up exercise and public education program at the madina market as part of initiatives aimed at inculcating good sanitary practices among the public.

The exercise witnessed sanitation workers of Zoomlion, members of rotary club and students groups busily desilting drains, sweeping, picking plastic materials and educating patrons of the madina market and its environs on the need to keep their surroundings clean.

The Communications Officer of Zoomlion, Mr. James Deku who was also present during the exercise in an interview explained that Zoomlion’s strategy of involving various interest groups in the fight against filth is yielding results as many are beginning to understand that keeping the environment clean is a shared responsibility.

Mr. Deku pointed out that, the lackadaisical attitudes demonstrated by some sections of the public towards the fight of ensuring clean communities continues to be a set-back hence Zoomlion’s intervention of implementing diversified public education programs to whip enthusiasm and set good attitudes towards waste management among the public.

Zoomlion also donated ten waste bins to the rotary club to aid their sanitation activities of the various catchment areas of the Accra trinity district.

A board member of the Rotary Club of Accra trinity, Miss Yvonne Ayenu who received the items expressed the club’s appreciation to Zoomlion for its good works and commitment in ensuring that Ghana becomes a model in good waste management practices.

She appealed to all Rotarians to ensure that they adhere to good sanitary practices and educate members of their communities on environmental cleanliness.
