EC poised to deliver successful elections – Charlotte Osei

The Electoral Commission (EC) has re-echoed its will deliver an undisputed election come December 7, 2016.

Contrary to what many say will be a challenging polls this year due to the multiple lawsuit brought against the Election Management Body (EMB), the Chairperson of the Commission, Madam Charlotte Osei who remained upbeat to deliver to Ghanaians a successful and peaceful elections said it is the priority of the EC to superintend over an incident-free and undisputed elections this year.

Speaking at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in the UK, Madam Charlotte Osei said: “The sum total of democracy for all is so much bigger than the individual price of political victory, so we win or lose together. And we do not need to look far to see the devastating consequences of when individual ambition of sectional interest is put before the greater good.

For her, the great pride of the West African nation is its cherished democracy being nurtured and Ghana will again have “peaceful, undisputed, transparent, credible and inclusive elections” come December 7.

“How we’re going to do this is what the processes will focus on,” she added.

According to her, even though the political stakeholders are raising the political temperature in this year’s election as election inches closer, she believes the atmosphere will to a large extent see peace and quiet during and after the December 7 polls.
