Assin DCE inspects rehabilitated feeder roads

Twifo Praso (C/R), Dec 29, GNA – Mr Abraham Odoom, the District Chief Executive for Twifo-Heman-Lower-Denkyira, on Monday inspected two feeder roads that had been rehabilitated at a cost of 1.5 billion cedis under the Village Infrastructure Project (VIP) in the district. The reconstruction work, which was undertaken between November 2002 and October 2003, involved the rehabilitation of an 8.05- kilometre feeder road from Mbem to link Mmaaniaye village and the upgrading of a 4.7-kilometre road from Ekurakese Junction to Asarekwaku village.

At a durbar organised by the people at Mmaaniaye in his honour, Mr Odoom assured the people that the government had earmarked more roads in the district for tarring and expressed the hope that the two feeder roads will be included in the exercise.

On the cocoa Hi-Tech programme, he said the programme would be expanded next year to cater for more farmers.

Nana Kojo Hamah, an elder of Mmaaniaye, said the construction of the roads would ensure easy evacuation of cocoa to the buying centres. He appealed to the district assembly to provide them with a clinic and a school.
