George Andah surprised me with his ‘discriminatory’ comment – Pratt

The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has slammed George Andah for making ‘discriminatory’ comments against his close contender Madam Hannah Tetteh.

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary Candidate for the Awutu Senya West constituency, George Andah threw a challenge to the NDC candidate and Minister of Foreign Affairs to produce her husband.

Mr Andah at a mini rally at Bawjiase in the Central region invited his wife to the stage and introduced her to party supporters; who had gathered at the rally amidst cheers and applauds.

“I came here with my wife, and children. Please tell Hanna to also come and show us her husband,” he said.

Kwesi Pratt Jnr, speaking to the issue during a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji, described the comments as discriminatory and unfair especially to women who are divorced or not married.

According to him, “we know that she (Hannah Tetteh) is divorced: are we saying that women who have divorced have no rights to take part in politics, are we going to discriminate against divorcees…I am so so disgusted….Are we saying that women who are not married are hopeless? So if a woman is not married she is useless? You can disagree with her…but to attack her that she cannot produce a husband…I feel shocked and sad because I had a lot of respect for George Andah, I think he is one of the finest…so I am so shocked that this fine gentleman has sank to this level. What degeneration? Is this the level that our politics is sinking into? I feel terrible about this”
