Praso records increase in road accidents

Twifo Praso (C/R) Dec. 28, GNA – The Police at Twifo Praso recorded 52 accidents between January one and December one this year, as against 32 during the same period last year.

According to Mr Peter A. K. Ayirezang District Police Commander, four persons were killed and 119 people sustained injuries during the accidents.

He attributed the increase in accidents to the influx of over-aged vehicles into the country, the construction of unauthorised speed ramps by some communities along the highways, reckless driving and the inability of the courts to impose stiffer punishments for careless driving.

Mr Ayirezang, appealed to drivers to be cautious during the yuletide and desist from travelling during the night, as a precaution against falling victim to armed robbery.
