Cocoa Purchasing Clerk appears in court for stealing

Enchi (W/R) Dec. 28 – GNA A magistrate court at Enchi last Thursday granted Thomas Owusu, 26, alias Dochie, 20 million cedis bail with a surety to be justified, for allegedly stealing 82 million cedis. He pleaded guilty and would re-appear before the court on January 17 next year.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Charles C. Frimpong told the court presided over by Mr. Francis K. Mensah that the accused was a clerk of a cocoa purchasing company in the area while the complainant, Mr James Y. Affum, was a also an officer of the company.

Chief Inspector Frimpong said on November 11 this year, Mr Affum, reported that the accused who had been given the amount to purchase cocoa from farmers, had fled to the Brong Ahafo region.

The Prosecutor said investigations led to the arrest of the accused adding that the Police had retrieved 68 million cedis from Owusu.
