ASA gives free health care to Tarkwa residents

ASA Savings and Loans Limited, Ghana has organised a free health screening exercise for about 400 residents in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem municipality, as part of its plans to boost the health needs of its catchment areas.

The programme also falls in line with the company’s corporate social responsibility policies and the drive to maintain good relationship with the people in Tarkwa.

The people, who came specifically from Bankyim, Tarkwa Aboso, Tarkwa Banso and the market circle area in the Tarkwa township, were examined for eye, diabetes (sugar), malaria and blood pressure, coughing and chest pains complaints, and later given medications.

Explaining the reason for undertaking the exercise, the ASA Area Manager for Tarkwa, Mr. Mithu Bhushan Debnath, told The Ghanaian Times that, it was the company’s desire that the residents, especially their customers, would stay healthy for businesses to grow, adding that “when customers are sick, it affect their own business and the health of the banking sector.”

Mr. Debnath observed that the beneficiaries were happy with the free medical care, explaining that those who had no money to go to hospital were encouraged to patronise the exercise.

ASA, he said, would continue to help the communities, especially its customers with the free medical care which it began in 2015, as part of the company’s social responsibility programmes in Tarkwa and beyond.

The company was registered in Ghana in 2008 and began operations in 2009 with the vision to empower the poor and the needy by granting them loans without a collateral requirement.
