Man arrested for stealing 100 balls of Fante kenkey

Twenty-Five (25) year old Kwadwo Bola is in the grips of the Japekrom police command for stealing 100 balls of ‘Fante kenkey’ at a village near Drobo, Bibianiha in the Jaman South district of the Brong Ahafo region.

The suspect was caught stealing the ‘kenkey’ of Madam Akua Toofe last week Monday around 1am when the community watchdog pounced on him and handed over to the police.

It is unclear whether he wanted to sell the ‘kenkey’ or not

Speaking with Ultimatefmonline.com via phone, the Assemblyman for Bibianiha Assembly electoral area, Martin Oppong explained that the community watchdog community was patrolling the community when the suspect was spotted loading the ‘Kenkey’ into a sack bag.

‘Kwadwo was going for his second packing of the ‘kenkey’ when he was arrested by the community watchdog. He had packed about 60 balls of the ‘kenkey’ at an unknown location and was packing the rest to make it 100 when he was arrested. He refused to name his accomplice,’ he explained.

Mr Oppong was worried over the increasing cases of theft in the area, saying thieves have been terrorising community members.

The suspected thief currently in police detention is assisting the police in their investigations and will soon be arraigned before court.
