Three persons die during Christmas holidays at Tema

Tema, Dec 27, GNA- Three persons died on the spot when they were knocked down in three separate motor accidents all occurring at the heavy industrial area at Tema during the Christmas day.

They were, Samuel Kwasi Boah, a security man of the Westec Security Company who was directing a cargo truck after it had loaded rice at the premises of the Ghana National Procurement Agency (GNPC).

Corporal Jackson Ntiri of the Tema Motor Transport and Traffic Unit (MTTU) told the Ghana News Agency that the second incident involved Mr Joseph Boakye, a bicycle rider, who was knocked down on the PZ road by a Renault articulated truck.

He said the third person Mr Abukari Ibrahim, was also knocked down by an Opel Astra when crossing the main road at the end of the Tema motorway junction.

Corporal Ntiri said the bodies have been deposited at the Tema General Hospital for autopsy while the three drivers, Mohammed Sanni, Bashiru Iddrisu and George Nyame have been granted police bail pending investigations.

In another development reports from the Tema communities two, one, four and eight police stations indicated that apart from minor assault cases no serious crime was recorded on Christmas holidays.
