Akufo-Addo fit as Council of State member – Asiedu Nketia

The General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has questioned the fitness of the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to be President of Ghana.

According to Mr. Nketia, age has caught up with Nana Akufo-Addo hence the only position suitable for him is a Council of State member.

Mosquito, as he is affectionately called, believes such a position will enable the NPP presidential candidate offer sound advice to President John Mahama.

Addressing a rally at Asokore in the New Juaben North constituency of the Eastern region, Mr. Nketia admonished residents not to continue voting for the NPP just because the party’s flagbearer hails from the region.

“We don’t hate Nana Addo, but we are only saying he can’t do the job of a President. So if he comes here advise him to abandon his presidential ambition. At his age, he can join Oyokohene (a council of state member) at the Council of State to be advising the president.

“Look at how late in the night it is now, we are here because we have the energy to do so as youth. From here we are not done, we are heading for another rally. The next morning we are on the move again. Our only old man that we pride ourselves with, if we subject you to this speed will it help? That’s why we say, go and sit home and be issuing instructions after meals. Is this a bad advice?

“So please advise him, his strength has left him. His brain is, however, intact, so he can sit and offer advice which we will take. But as for the required strength to walk around as President – the soul wishes but the body is weak,” Nketia said to the crowd.

Mahama has since rounded up his tour of the Eastern region.
