NDC Chair’s house up for sale to pay for ‘waakye’ debt

The Kwesimintin constituency chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Alidu Mahama, is set to lose his private residence which has been put for sale for owning a “waakye” seller [ONE IN TOWN] several thousands of Ghana cedis.

A commercial court in Sekondi in the Western region, ordered the sale of private bungalow of the NDC chair after he failed to pay for ‘waakye’ he bought to feed party supporters including polling station agents 2 years ago.

According to the facts of the case, the waakye was said to have been credited in the name of constituency chairman the reason his property is to be sold in order to defray the debt.

The proprietress of the ‘waakye’ canteen took the matter to court after fruitless efforts to retrieve the amount owed from the constituency chairman leading to the latest ruling.

Some executives have however suggested proceeds from public toilets in the area be used to pay off the credited ‘waakye’ while others also insist funds were released from the NDC headquarters to pay the accrued debt.
