EC is doing well – Mac Manu

The campaign manager of the New Patriotic Party Peter Mac Manu has commended the Electoral Commission for the electoral reforms they are introducing ahead of the December polls, but urges them to do more to safeguard the vote.

“I can say the Electoral Commission is doing well but they must continue to show values of transparency. We must continue to improve on the systems,” Mac Manu told Morning Starr host Nii Arday Clegg Friday while reacting to the Supreme Court judgment on the Collation sheet.

He said the Supreme Court has added value to the electoral process by the judgment. “The Supreme Court has a duty to stabilize our democracy and they have done just that and I think a lot of integrity will be brought to bare,” he said.

Also reacting to the judgment, deputy general secretary of the NDC George Lawson said the order by the apex court is in order.

“The directive puts to rest any doubt about the results. The Supreme Court has spoken and it is in the right direction,” he told Arday Clegg.

The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the Electoral Commission to create a portion on the collation forms for all parties including returning officers to append their signatures after results are collated.
