Turning the banku shows I have leadership skills – Oko Vanderpuije

The mayor of Accra, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, has given reasons for his actions last week, during his door-to-door campaign tour of the Korle Gonno community.

In an interview with GH One News, Oko Vanderpuije said, leadership is all about letting the people know that you have the skills. If you want to be an MP for a community, you must identify with the people…

“I, as Oko Vanderpuije, have skills. Braiding people’s head is part of the hair-dressing business, so me demonstrating in public that I have that skills.., he added.

“With me turning the banku shows that I can cook. I’m bringing a message of hope to our restaurants, our women who cook and sell banku along the roads. I’m telling them that with me, there is going to be advancement. We will create better restaurants, help them to set up and provide food to the people…” the mayor said.
