Judge gives landmark ruling on Amoo’s case and says…A new era has dawned

History was made last Monday when an Accra High Court presided over by Mrs Justice Agnes Dordzie, ruling in the celebrated Ayawaso West-Wuogon constituency election saga, quashed the results declared by the Electoral Commission (EC) on December 8, 1996 as well as the notice in the Gazette of December 19, 1996 in the name of Mrs Rebecca Akweley Adotey.

In the landmark ruling described by the judge herself as the ‘dawn of a new era’ and which climaxed 12 grueling months of legal fisticuffs between the New Patriotic Party’s George Isaac Amoo and National Democratic Congress’ Mrs Rebecca Adotey, the latter was effectively strangulated from carrying herself as a Member of Parliament (MP).
