NDC has sidelined Rawlings – NPP

The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sidelined former President Jerry John Rawlings, and will pay the price for that by losing votes in the Volta Region – the home of Mr Rawlings, Pius Enam Hadzide, an aide to Nana Akufo-Addo, flag bearer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said.

He told Prince Minkah on the Executive Breakfast Show on Class91.3FM on Monday October 24 that: “The good people of the Volta Region know that the NDC has failed them, the NDC has relegated and ostracised Jerry Rawlings who was one of the main reasons why the Volta Region will vote for the NDC.”

“They know that he has been marginalesd and ostracised … so the reason why Voltarians will vote for the party no longer exists, coupled with the fact that they now know that Nana Addo is a jobs candidate, he is an honest candidate, not corruptible, he is competent, not incompetent and that he will bring a lot of development to the Volta Region, and, so, we expect to meet our target of 30 percent in the Volta Region,” Mr Hadzide said.

Mr Akufo-Addo is heading for the region, stronghold of the governing party for a five-day campaign tour just days after President John Mahama, candidate of the NDC left the region last week.

This will be the second time Mr Akufo-Addo will be touring the region. Nana Akufo-Addo will visit a total of 15 constituencies, including South Dayi, Kpando, Krachi East, Nkwanta North, Hohoe, Ho Central, North Tongu, amongst others.

The NPP has set a goal to capture at least three seats and 30 per cent of presidential votes in the region.
