Peacejammers walk for peace ahead of elections

About 400 young people took to the streets of Accra yesterday to preach peace to the public ahead of the general elections.

The walk was part of activities marking the 2016 PeaceJam Slam hosted by the West Africa Center for Peace Foundation on the theme, “youth, the beacon for a peaceful election”

The walk started from Nima through Mamobi and back to Nima. The enthusiastic young people danced to brass band music whiles putting their messages drafted on placards across.

Some of the messages on the placards were; we need peace, One Ghana, Peace is a must for all, say no to war and war will make us orphans among others.

PeaceJam is an international education programme built around peace prize laureates who work with the youth to help pass on the spirit, skills and wisdom they embody.

The programme sparks commitment to justice and peace, social responsibility, academic excellence and other values that seeks to inspire young people and make them transformational leaders who will cherish changing themselves and society for the better.
