Improve education delivery through dialogue

Atwima-Koforidua (Ash), Dec 17, GNA- Participants at a four-day workshop on education improvement have called on School Management Committees (SMCs) to create regular consultation and dialogue among stakeholders in education delivery to identify strategies for improvement.

They were also advised to identify potential resources available in the community and harness them for efficiency. Chiefs, assembly and unit committee members, teachers and women groups attended the workshop at Koforidua in the Atwima district as part of the national SMC/PTA expansion programme.

The participants called for annual school budgets to ensure proper planning, prioritise school needs, know its resources, control expenditure and prevent misapplication of school funds.

Addressing the participants, Mr Peter Opoku-Agyemang, Circuit Supervisor for Mpasatia, called for discipline among teachers not only to improve teaching and learning, strengthen the image of the profession and promote good teacher and community relationship.

He asked the communities to adequately care for teachers’ welfare and attract them to the rural areas.
