Police seized fake ‘sollatek’ protectors

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has seized 250 fake fridge guards and arrested eight people for questioning.

Assistant Superintendent Police (ASP) Mohammed Yussif Tanko of the Public Affairs Unit told journalists in Kumasi that the exercise was carried out on October 13.

He did not give the names of the suspects, who are all on police enquiry bail, but warned the public to be vigilant.

They should avoid buying cheap electrical products, which could turn out to be costly.

He said the seized fridge guards carrying the trademark of ‘Sollatek’ had been found not to be genuine and posed safety threat.

ASP Tanko indicated that those products could wreck electrical appliances and trigger domestic fire outbreak.

The police acted on a complaint by the Management of Sollatek Electronics Ghana Limited- a leader in voltage protection and energy saving.
