Old Tafo would be made a district – Akufo-Addo

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo has hinted that an NPP government shall re-demarcate Old Tafo to make a district, thereby granting it autonomy.

He gave the assurance when he paid a visit to the chief’s palace as part of his four day tour of the Ashanti region.

Nana Addo was in the accompany of Alan Kyeremateng, and some party bigwigs. At the chief’s palace, the NPP Flagbearer was received by the Chief of Tafo Nana Agyen Frimpong Ababio.

In his statement, Nana Addo assured the people of creating a new district for Old Tafo if his party is voted to power.

“Tafo will also enjoy the status of Asokore Mampong to enjoy massive development.”

He also gave an indication of his set of ministers which he revealed will have Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei as an integral member although he was not specific which portfolio the former finance minister and current MP for Old Tafo will have.

“He will work in my government” Nana Addo revealed.

The chief of Tafo Nana Agyen Frimpong Ababio bemoaned Tafo was lagging behind in terms of development and requested a separate district to bridge the gap.

“We have the Suame industrial cluster but we are still under developed” he stressed.

At a mini rally in front of the chief’s palace Nana Addo asked the people to vote him to give the economy a new outlook.

He also took a swipe at his critics whom he described as hypocrites adding that “they say I beg for votes….but who votes…If begging for votes will grant me the power then I won’t stop” Nana Addo asserted.
