Kofi Annan’s human rights agenda

The United Nations Secretary-General is determined to press for greater observance of human rights by governments in the coming year, “The Ghanaian Chronicle” has learnt.

Sources close to the United Nations Department of Public Information told the Chronicle in New York that Kofi Annan’s signals were reflected in three messages he delivered last week in which he called on the world’s youth to demand for their human rights, defend them and promote them. The messages were delivered to the just-ended International Roundtable for Journalists in New York.
