NPP unfazed by mammoth crowd at NDC campaign launch – Sam Pyne

The New Patriotic Party(NPP) executives in the Ashanti say they are not bothered by the crowd that the governing NDC pulled over the weekend at the launch of its campaign.

The party’s Secretary, Sam Pyne is of the view that the party notwithstanding the supposed crowd cannot achieve its target of 1 million votes no matter how hard they try.

The governing National Democratic Congress in the Ashanti Region launched its campaign in Kumasi, the regional capital at the weekend to push for its agenda of securing not less than 1 million votes in the upcoming elections in the region, which is considered a stronghold of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Kumasi, was awash in the red, white and green colours of the NDC as thousands of supporters in the region thronged the Jubilee Park for the NDC’s campaign launch.

This comes a month after the party held a mammoth manifesto launch in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

Commenting on the governing party’s campaign launch in Kumasi, the NPP’s Regional Secretary said the NDC will fall flat in attempts to compare crowds at party rallies with the elephant family.

“The crowd there isn’t that much to talk about. If you look at the videos you’ll think it was massive but when you go to the grounds it wasn’t that crowd. To me it will pass for constituency campaign launch not even a regional launch

“Moreover if it was crowd that you are going to view in assessing the chances of a political party, then the NDC shouldn’t dream of even contesting the elections because last Sunday when we launch our manifesto in Accra, just for the people of Accra, you saw the thousands of people who thronged that area to make it a very successful one.”
