Accra, Dec. 15, GNA – Sheikh Ibrahim C. Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister, on Monday said malaria outbreak affected productivity; therefore, efforts should be made to prevent its prevalence to maintain human labour.

“Malaria has no respect for any person, therefore, efforts should be made to rid the communities of breeding places of mosquitoes to minimize the prevalence of malaria” he said.

Sheikh Quaye made the observation, at the lunching of the Regional Mosquito control programme in Accra.

The programme aimed at eradicating mosquitoes and Malaria in the Region would involve periodic fumigation and spraying of insecticides at areas prone to mosquito breeding especially the Odaw-Onyasia catchment area.

Mr Joe Lartey, Chief Executive of Attitude Ghana a non-governmental organisation (NGO), who chaired the function, said malaria could cause poor growth among children and stressed the need to protect the future leaders.
