NPP loyal ladies attacked in Suhum

Irate youth suspected to be members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday night (October 11) assaulted Loyal Ladies of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during a house-to-house campaign at Suhum in the Eastern Region.

The ladies sought refuge at the Suhum chief’s palace but the thugs chased them up there and assaulted them and some chiefs who were in a meeting.

At least one person is reported to have been injured.

According to Class News’ Eastern regional correspondent, information gathered revealed that the ladies were attacked by guards of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Margaret Ansei.

The guards were alleged to have confronted the ladies who were performing their door-to-door campaigns for party flag bearer Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP parliamentary aspirant there over why they were spreading rumours that the MCE was a prostitute. It resulted in an argument and the guards ended up beating the ladies.

Vera Oye Bram Larbi, one of the commanders of the NPP Loyal Ladies, who confirmed the story to Class News, said: “We are traumatised. We do not know what to do; the girls are depressed.”
