NDC, NPP supporters clash at Odododiodio

It took the timely intervention of the Police to prevent another mayhem when supporters of NDC and NPP clashed at Odododiodio in Accra Tuesday night.

Reports say the tensions were sparked when the brother of the late Nii Ayi Kwei Mankatah, former NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodoo, took offense in a song composed against him by an NPP supporter.

The aggrieved man allegedly hired thugs to attack the NPP supporter provoking in a counter attack in an area largely deemed a stronghold of the opposition party.

An eye witness who narrated the incident to Starr News said he fears the scenario may reoccur on Saturday if care is not taken.

“A rally was held at Odododiodoo by the NDC and after the rally they were moving round when the NPP supporters stared hooting at them at Blue gate- an NPP stronghold- the NDC also hooted back and they exchanged words and everyone went their way but later on some NDC machomen returned to the place and attacked the NPP at the place and it took the intervention of the Police to restore peace in the area and no one was injured but this Saturday the NPP aspirant in the area is going to launch his campaign and if security is not beefed up at the place, i’m afraid something bad might happen”.

The James Town Police has started investigations into the matter.
