Sunyani MCE alters Atta Mills’ project

The Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) of Sunyani, Kwesi Oppong Ababio has allegedly relabelled a school built under Atta Mills’ Schools under Trees Project as one of the newly built schools under GETFUND at Abesim during the president’s recent tour of the Brong Ahafo Region.

Though the statement on the plaque fixed on the wall of the Methodist School block which read ‘GETFUND, Schools Under Trees and Emergency Intervention Programme (SUTEM (P): 2009-2012. An initiative of His Excellency President John Evans Atta- Mills. 6 – Unit classroom block, Abesim Methodist Primary, (September, 2011) was left intact, the date, September 2011 was changed to June 2016 to allegedly project it as one of Mahama’s achievements.

The Public Relations Officer of the Sunyani Assembly, Vicente Antwi will not pick his phone or answer whatsapp message to that effect. The re-labelling has become a topical issue on whatsaap platforms and social media users cannot fathom the motive behind the change of date.

It was believed that President Mahama who arrived at Abesim late in the night might probably not visit the school. However, political pundits were of the view that the MCE wanted to use the Abesim Methodist Primary School as one of his achievements and for that matter that of His Excellency, President John Mahama.
