Give me five minutes or I go to court – Nduom to EC

The disqualified flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has warned the electoral commission to reverse his disqualification or be hit with a court action.

According to the business magnate, a five minute conversation between him and the EC chair person can resolve the irregularity that caused his disqualification.

“All I ask for is just five minutes with Mrs Charlotte Osei and the whole issue will be resolved. If not, then we have no option than to go court,” the groupe Ndoum founder told his teeming supporters at the party’s headquarters in Accra Tuesday.

He added: “We are not here to quarrel with anybody. We are not here to cause confusion anyway. We know our rights and we will sit and stand but we will do so in peaceful manner— so that when the Ghanaian people encounter our character and the content that we have, they will know that truly’ these are the people that can take of this nation.

“So to you; our parliamentary candidates and all of our supporters everywhere, I am telling you no one can kill the love that we have for our country and our determination to move this country forward”.

Dr. Nduom noted that he is expecting a response to his request from the EC by Thursday after which he will explore his options.

The EC on Monday announced the disqualification of 12 candidates including Dr. Nduom, Dr. Hassan Ayariga of APC, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings of the NDP, Dr. Edward Mahama of the PNC, Dr. Henry Lartey of the GCPP for failing to meet the nomination requirement for the Presidential contest.

Nomination form anomalies and many others were cited for their individual disqualification.

Many of the affected candidates have threatened to sue the EC over the move.
