Some NDC supporters feared dead in boat disaster

Several supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Daboya Constituency of the Northern Region, are feared dead after the boat they were traveling on capsized on the White Volta.

Alima Bawa a local journalist reports that the incident occurred on Sunday night with unconfirmed number of the supporters gone missing.

According to her, the boat was carrying the passengers across the bank of the river towards Tamale but capsized midway through the journey.

The passengers mostly NDC supporters she revealed, were returning from a campaign launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Daboya-Mankarigu constituency.

A rescue team immediately comprising locals tried to save the victims but without success.

They are however expected to continue today.

Police in the area have confirmed the incident to ultimatefmonline.com.
