Unnecessary spending cause of cancellation of allowances – MP

A member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Manifesto Committee and Member of Parliament for Obuasi West has accused the Mahama administration for spending unnecessarily hence their resort to the cancellation of student allowances.

In an interview with Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, the MP for Obuasi West, Kwaku Kwarteng opined that the Mahama led administration after spending unnecessarily, pushed the burden on citizens by placing high taxes on electricity as well as the scrapping of allowances of students such as nursing and teacher trainees.

According to Kwaku Kwarteng, the government however gets money to rebrand buses among others.

He added that this is the very reason the NPP as a government will introduce the Fiscal Responsibility Act which will be aimed at minimizing the expenditures of the government in other to release the citizens from the payment of huge taxes.
