The Supreme Court has adjourned to the 28th of January, 1998, the case in which the Essumejahene and President of the National House Of Chiefs, Nana Oduro Numapau, and 15 others have been summoned for contempt of Court over the chieftaincy case at Asante-Effiduase. The Court had to adjourn when defence Counsel, Mr.. Kwame Tetteh, objected to the inclusion of Mr.. Justice A.K. Ampiah on the panel hearing the case. According to counsel, there is the probability of bias, should Mr.. Justice Ampiah sit on the case. He said when Mr.. Justice Ampiah was at the High Court in Kumasi in 1980, he granted an injunction restraining Nana Osei Worae from exercising the functions of Effiduasehene and from interfering with the said stool. The counsel contended that the views held by Mr.. Justice Ampiah in granting the injunction at the time could still influence his judgement in the case and so Justice could not be seen to be done. Counsel for plaintiff, Mr.. Charles Agbanu, opposed the application. The court, presided over by Mr.. Justice Hafron-Benjamin, ruled that defence counsel should formally apply to it on his objections to enable the court of give its ruling. The plaintiff, Nana Ameyaw, in his affidavit, swore that in February 1979, Nana Worae unlawfully got himself installed as Effiduasehene. gri
